Ingredients

Ingredients for Chole

  • 1 cup chickpeas
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger & garlic paste
  • 2 garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
  • 1 cup of black tea
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 2 tomatoes chopped
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 potato boiled and mashed
  • 1 tbsp Ghee

For garnish

  • coriander leaves
  • onion
  • lemon

Ingredients for bhature

  • cup All purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ cup curd
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

How to cook the recipe

    For Chole

    • Soak the chickpeas for 6-7 hours. Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.keep it aside.
    • Heat ghee in a pan ,then add cumin seeds ,chopped onion and saute until onion turns pink, coriander seeds, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, garam masala, tomatoes mix and saute till soft, add water and let it all cook.
    • Then add black tea, tamarind pulp and let it cook. Now add the chick peas, boiled and mashed potatoes to the mixture with the water and mix it well. Allow it to boil till it becomes thick.
    • Garnish with coriander leaves, onion, lemon.
    • Chole is ready .Enjoy!

    For Bhature

    • In a large bowl, add all purpose flour, baking powder, curd, sugar, salt, milk and knead a dough.
    • Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and keep overnight.
    • Now your dough will bloat up in twice the size.
    • Roll out the dough ball into a flat bread using a rolling pin and make it into a round or elongated shape.
    • In a wok/vessel/kadhai add enough oil to deep fry these bhature cooking at a medium flame, the bhatura's will inflate in no time.
    • Serve hot the bhature with chole.
